Alanis Morissette Announces New Christmas Album Feat. Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin, & Martin Short

Alanis Morissette is bringing her unmistakable voice to the holiday season with Good Weather For Immaculate Conception, her first-ever Christmas album, arriving November 6.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is putting her own spin on seasonal favorites while introducing two original compositions. The 14-track collection features an unexpected lineup of collaborators, including Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Joy Oladokun, Amythyst Kiah and British choir Trans Voices.
Known for the emotional intensity and unapologetic honesty that defined her breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill, Morissette is taking a different creative direction with this release. The project blends traditional Christmas standards with contemporary interpretations and new material.
Among the album's original songs are "Christmas On The Dancefloor" and "To An Empath At Christmas Time," titles that suggest Morissette hasn't abandoned the distinctive perspective that has shaped her songwriting for decades.
To introduce the album, Morissette has released her rendition of "Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem," featuring Brandi Carlile and actor, comedian and accomplished bluegrass musician Steve Martin. The traditional gospel hymn, famously recorded by country duo The Judds, provides an opportunity for the three artists to bring their different musical backgrounds together.
The collaboration follows Morissette and Carlile's recent performance together at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Steve Martin, meanwhile, continues to explore his musical interests alongside his celebrated career in comedy and acting.
Martin's longtime creative partner and Only Murders In The Building co-star Martin Short also contributes to the album, appearing on the closing track, "Merry Christmas."
Elsewhere, the collection includes Morissette's interpretations of familiar holiday recordings such as "Last Christmas," "Silent Night," "O Holy Night" and John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." She also tackles Joni Mitchell's "River," a song whose melancholy themes make it a natural fit for Morissette's emotionally driven approach.
Additional collaborations include Amythyst Kiah on "Momma Mary," Trans Voices on "O Tannenbaum" and Joy Oladokun on "Silent Night."
