Carissa’s Wierd – “I Don’t Feel Like I Feel Right”

Seattle indie duo Carissa’s Wierd, featuring Jenn Champion and Mat Brooke, are making their long-awaited return. Known for their hauntingly beautiful DIY records in the early 2000s, the group originally disbanded in 2003, with its members pursuing other musical projects, including Band Of Horses, where Brooke was a founding member.
Following a brief reunion that produced a single in 2011, Carissa’s Wierd are officially back with Somewhere Further Than Far Away, their first full-length album in 25 years. The band previously offered a glimpse of the upcoming project with the striking lead single “No One Lives Here Anymore.” Now, they’re building anticipation with another new release.
The new Carissa's Wierd song is called "I Don't Feel Like I Feel Right" — good title — and it's just as stirringly pretty as "No One Lives Here Anymore." Champion's conversational, homespun vocals still hit unbelievably hard over those twinkly guitars; it's enough to make me feel unstuck in time. Champion says, "Mat and I have lived a lot of lives together. This is kind of a reckoning with our past and present, and how a relationship can feel fated to be no matter what happens along the way." Check out the video below.
Somewhere Further Than Far Away is out 1/8 on Nettwerk.
